Start with What the Wall Has to Do
A useful first question is whether the wall is an external envelope wall, an internal partition or part of a special opening/reinforced detail. Once that is clear, the project team can compare the BAUBLOCK families and then select the appropriate thickness from the available range.
| Family | Declared density | Declared λ | Typical role |
|---|---|---|---|
| TERMECO | 350 kg/m³ | ≤ 0.084 W/(m·K) | External walls; thermal performance prioritised |
| UTILITAS | 400 kg/m³ | ≤ 0.096 W/(m·K) | External walls; more mass and strength |
| SILENSO | 500 kg/m³ | ≤ 0.12 W/(m·K) | Internal partitions |
TERMECO: Start Here for Thermally Focused External Walls
TERMECO is the lightest of the three available wall families and has the lowest declared thermal conductivity. It is therefore the natural family to investigate where the external wall strategy places strong emphasis on thermal performance and reduced wall weight. The available thicknesses are 200, 250 and 300 mm.
UTILITAS: A More Robust External-Wall Balance
UTILITAS moves to a higher density and compressive strength while retaining the advantages of AAC construction. That can make it appropriate where the design seeks more mass, robustness or acoustic performance in an external wall without changing to a completely different masonry system. Available widths are 200 and 250 mm.
SILENSO: Higher-Density Internal Partitions
SILENSO is the higher-density family in the product range and is principally positioned for internal walls. Available thicknesses of 75, 85, 100 and 150 mm allow the designer to match room division, service routes and space requirements without using an external-wall block simply because it is available.
Do Not Choose by Thickness or Price Alone
Two blocks with the same thickness can have different densities and intended roles. The final selection should therefore consider structure, acoustics, fire strategy, services, fixings, finishes, junctions and the energy calculation for the complete wall. O-TEC and U-TEC should only be introduced where the project detail calls for them.
- Confirm whether the wall is external, internal or a shaped/reinforced detail.
- Check the applicable BAUBLOCK declaration and current product drawing.
- Coordinate openings, structure, movement joints and service routes before ordering.
- Use the wall build-up — not a single material value — for thermal and fire decisions.
- Use the published pallet quantities when planning the order; transport and any applicable quantity discount are set out in the pro-forma invoice.
Technical statements on this page are based on the BAUBLOCK declarations, environmental declaration, supplied U-TEC drawing and/or TERMECO 200 fire report available in the project documentation.
